Team Leader - Separation Chemistry

Position Summary:
The Purification Team Lead will plan, organize, and execute as well as direct personnel and resources to purify OLED R&D materials using state of the art techniques.  The successful candidate will also provide technical decision-making and facilitate continuous innovation in order to further elevate the team’s capabilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of Scientists, Chemists, and technicians in support of purification of OLED materials.
  • Coordinate training, professional development and growth of Purification Team members.
  • Champion safety in supporting safety initiatives within team, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in leading troubleshooting of methods and equipment.
  • Execute method development and purifications as needed to support team throughput.
  • Integrate state-of-art separations techniques and technologies into the Purification Team.
  • Develop integrated separation science activities through collaboration with the OLED Chemistry and Analytical Departments .
  • Represent Purification team in internal and external technical meetings.
  • Provide timely feedback and performance reviews to team members.
  • Support special projects and/or other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Essential Skills
  • MS or PhD in Engineering, Chemistry or related field.   
  • At least 3 - 5 years’ industrial experience in a separation science role in an R&D setting required. 
  • Prior supervisory experience desired but not required.
  • Experience with small-scale and large-scale preparative separations using HPLC, normal phase, and reverse phase systems
  • Experience with small-scale and/or large-scale preparative separations using SFC
  • The ability to perform method development, scaleup separations, data analysis and basic instrument troubleshooting/maintenance on complicated systems
  • Strong computer skills in standard & scientific systems, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ChemDraw, ELN and LIMS.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpretation of technical instructions from disparate information sources, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Ability to build, motivate and train high performing teams.
