Position Description: The Production Engineer collaborates with Manufacturing Management in all technical aspects of operations regarding routine manufacturing, process improvement and optimization plant wide within the assigned area(s). This includes equipment management, upgrades and optimization with the intent to provide operational excellence and continuous improvement in batch process operations and will play a key role in the renovation of the New Castle facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist area management to ensure manufacturing operations are efficiently carried out in compliance with all government regulations and company policies and procedures
Ensures that the personal and departmental moral, ethical, legal, and behavioral conduct is in compliance with the Adesis Code of Conduct
Work closely with Operations, Facilities, EHS and Quality to help achieve site KPIs.
Assist in the management of tech-transfers and new process introductions into manufacturing
Manage activities associated with the Adesis Facility Master Plan in collaboration with the Head of Manufacturing and Head of Corporate Operations
Develop a depth of knowledge of production equipment to match with process requirements for manufacturing needs on site
Generate and drive to completion change controls required for site and process improvements
Review, update and author SOPs as needed to support equipment and process improvements
Train production personnel as needed on equipment or process improvements to help drive quality and cost initiatives
No direct reports but is responsible for providing technical guidance to ensure safety, quality and production goals are met and for the general success of the assigned area
Oversee external contractors and/or interns performing work on site
Provide technical instructions to chemical operators, maintenance mechanics, electricians and instrumentation technicians
Preforms other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Essential Skills:
B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent related experience within pharmaceutical or a fine chemical manufacturing environment. An advanced degree is desirable.
2-5 years’ experience in batch manufacturing in a regulated environment, such as ISO-9001/ISO-13485, cGMP, and/or OSHA 1910.119 (PSM) strongly preferred
Knowledge of Process Improvement methodology (ie., Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma) preferred
Prior experience with technology transfer and/or capital project management strongly preferred
Working knowledge of computer systems, such as Microsoft Office
Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Project management skills – ability to monitor complex projects and direct activities to successful project completion.
